Weekdays

I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of New Brunswick and completed my doctoral internship training at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. I worked at Markham Stouffville Hospital for approximately two years providing outpatient therapy and assessment. For four years, I worked at Brampton Civic Hospital providing assessment and therapy both within an inpatient and day hospital setting. My approach is primarily cognitive-behavioural, but I also draw from humanistic and family systems therapies. Therapy is tailored to fit the needs of the person being treated and the goals they have set. I provide therapy to children, adolescents, adults and families.

I completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the Fielding Graduate University, Santa Barbara, California. My primary area of research pertains to psychological resilience, the ability to thrive despite severe life difficulties. I have over 20 years of experience in mental health in the community, including the role of clinical specialist. I held clinical positions at Correctional Services Canada, Canadian Mental Health Association, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Forensic Psychological Services, Health Sciences Centre, and St. Boniface General Hospital.

I carefully tailor my approach to serve the needs of my clients. My interventions usually involve the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, augmented by Client-Centred approaches. In all interventions, I emphasize the strengths that each individual brings to resolving life-problems. I provide assessments and treatment for various conditions, including personality disorders, hoarding disorder, depression, social anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, chronic pain, adjustment to trauma and loss, and co-occurring addiction disorders. I provide services to both adolescents and adults.

I have a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Toronto. I completed a pre-doctoral internship with the University Health Network. Prior to my internship, I completed a practicum placement at the Vanier Centre for Women/Maplehurst Correctional Institute. I also completed a practicum in the Neuropsychology Service at Toronto Western Hospital.

My dissertation research focused on how individual differences in mothering and mood change how one’s brain responds to their newborn. This work reflects the passion that I have for parenting and child development. I have experience working with individuals and families who are experiencing difficulties such as social anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, health-related anxiety, depression, adjustment to challenging life circumstances, grief and trauma, oppositional/disruptive behavioural concerns, eating disorders, and personality disorders. I am also experienced at providing assessment services for learning and other difficulties.

My primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, although I incorporate themes from mindfulness and other acceptance-based therapies, attachment theory, motivational interviewing and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, as indicated by the goals/needs of my clients. I have experience with individual and group therapy. I see adults, adolescents, children, and families.

Weekdays

I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the APA-accredited program at Louisiana Tech University. I completed my internship in psychology at the University of Kansas Counseling and Psychological Services. Prior to internship, I completed several practicum placements in community mental health, college counseling centers, and private practice. My training emphasized the development of generalist therapy and assessment skills with children, adolescents, and adults. After obtaining my Ph.D., I worked at Idaho State University Counseling and Testing Service, providing individual and group therapy.

I approach my clinical work from an integrative lens, drawing heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also incorporate multicultural counseling, mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy into my work in order to meet the unique needs of each client. I provide therapy to adults, adolescents, children, and families.

Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays

I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from York University. I have trained and worked at several hospital and university sites providing therapy and assessment and engaged in clinical research. My approach to therapy is evidence-based and integrative, which essentially means listening carefully to the person’s experience, establishing a good connection, and then drawing upon a variety of well-established therapeutic methods depending on the goals and needs of the client. I have training in cognitive-behavioural, humanistic, and psychodynamic therapies. Examples of conditions and concerns that I work with include depression, grief/bereavement, low self-confidence, anger, worry, health anxiety, longstanding interpersonal problems, and existential concerns (e.g., lack of purpose and meaning in life; facing ‘big decisions’; death anxiety). My background also includes mindfulness meditation for those who are interested in integrating this kind of practice into therapy to strengthen attention and cultivate peace of mind. I provide therapy to adults and adolescents, and offer assessments to adults, adolescents and children.
