Coverage

Psychological services are not covered by OHIP. However, they are covered by most insurance companies. We recommend that you seek out the following information from your insurance provider:

  1. Does the insurance provider require a referral from your family doctor before they will start covering the cost of therapy?
We do not require a referral, but some companies will not begin payment without it.
  2. What is your coverage each year?
This can vary considerably from one plan to the next, ranging from approximately $300/year to $2000/year.
  3. Is your coverage limit per-person or per-family?
In the case of per-family coverage, if only one member is in therapy, you may be able to use the entire family allotment.
  4. When is their ‘year end?’
This is often at the end of December, but some companies restart benefits in April/May or from the date you started coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions About Costs

  1. How much does therapy cost?
The cost of a one hour therapy session is $200 for Dr. Andrea Miller and $170-$200 for the practice's clinical associates. Student clinicians are sometimes available at a cost of $80.00 per session.
  2. Is there a difference in cost for family and individual therapy?
No. The cost for therapy sessions is the same, regardless of the number of participants.
  3. Can you bill my insurance company directly?
We are currently able to direct bill for clients with coverage through Greenshield. In most other cases, clients pay us directly and are reimbursed by their extended health care providers.
  4. How much does an assessment (psychoeducational, cognitive testing, adaptive functioning, etc.) cost?
The cost of an assessment depends on a number of factors. A full psychoeducational assessment costs $2,500. This typically involves a minimum of 8 hours of testing. A feedback session and a formal written report will be provided at the conclusion. Depending on your specific requirements, less comprehensive assessments may be appropriate at a significantly lower cost. Please contact our office to discuss your needs.
